A Collaborative Initiative to Safeguard England’s Chalk Rivers
In partnership with leading conservation and angling organisations
Vanishingly rare worldwide, chalk river ecosystems impact millions of people in the UK. We are launching The Chalk River Project to showcase the work now being done in safeguarding and restoring these endangered landscapes and to help people connect with them.
Initially concentrating on Hampshire in Southern England, home to the world-famous Test and Itchen, The Chalk River Project is working on a documentary film involving all the key players – due for release in 2026.
This website, launching shortly, will follow progress and act as a hub for information about chalk rivers, including the companies, organisations, clubs, scientists and individuals that are involved and making a difference.
